Project Background:
The plant was designed to treat the waste water of the town of Samokov, which is the main polluter of Iskar Dam. It was designed for a population equivalent of 125,000 and Qav.=44,000 m3/day.
The project was launched in 1991 with the conclusion of a general supply of equipment contract with PASSAVANT WERKE AG – Germany. The supplier elaborated a technical design and applied state-of-the-art water treatment technologies.
In January 2001, the mechanical, biological and sludge plants were commissioned. At the time, WWTP Samokov was the most advanced plant of this nature on the Balkan Peninsula.
Project Activities:
BORA performed the project design for all parts and aligned the technical documentation of the supplier with the Bulgarian standards. During construction, the company performed on-going designer supervision and participated in the commissioning of the plant and equipment.
